Janine Tilley is an experienced Project Manager, Communications Manager and Fundraiser.

She started her career in TV production and since 1996 she has worked in communications, mostly as a Project Manager.  Janine also worked as a Fundraiser for various non-government organisations. She is fluent in digital communication and loves learning new skills.

Janine has a National Diploma in Video Technology from the Durban Institute of Technology from way back in the early 90s and worked at the SABC in Joburg at the start of her TV career, co-ordinating and shooting for a series called Artworks.  She then did research and coordination on documentaries (including Special Assignment episodes) before moving to Cape Town in 1998.

She worked in the film industry on short films, music clips and commercials for three years and then in 2001 worked on a life changing BBC documentary called “Paying the Price” about the vast difference in treatment for HIV in Uganda versus South Africa.  Through this documentary Janine met members of The Treatment Action Campaign. This then led her to join the media NGO Community Media Trust to work on the successful HIV education TV series Siyayinqoba.  Janine worked with CMT as a Production Manager, Line Producer, Project Manager and Fundraiser for 9 years on various educational TV series and documentaries.

From the end of 2012, Janine ran a Cape Town based non-profit organisation called PARTNER with Dr Rich A Griggs and Carnita Hendricks.  She is learning about business and clean energy as a Project Manager for the investment and clean energy company H1 Holdings.

Janine lives in Cape Town, has an nine year old daughter, three dogs and one cat.  Her partner is a very clever man in this band: Tannhauser Gate. In her spare time she plays old records at clubs, parties and bars. Her DJ name is The Silence Between and she plays vinyl records made up of mostly rock ‘n roll, garage, surf, some old school punk and a smattering of cheesy happy songs.

Claims to fame:  Janine has a rather famous musician teenage sweetheart – Felix Laband.  She worked on a short film called “Inja” that was nominated for an Academy Award in 2003.  Janine as a DJ was featured in Elle magazine’s “Top 40 Hottest Things of 2006”. In 2006 Janine and some friends ran a Cape Town club called EVOL.
